If the answer is ‘Yes’ then you should be seriously thinking about booking a ticket to one of the most important shows that Sir Tom will be presenting on the date of his 75th birthday!
I went to see Sir TJ at his homecoming 65th birthday concert in Ynysangharad Park in Pontypridd, South Wales, almost ten years ago ( how time flies! ) And it was a fantastic event, with tons of Welsh singers and musicians performing as warm up for Tom.
For his 75th birthday he will be singing at an equally unpronounceable venue, Laugardasholl Arena, in Iceland, on the 8th of April 2015. Hope Tom doesn’t have too many beers the day before the concert, on his birthday on the 7th, otherwise he will be singing with at least a ‘back-ground headache’ LOL!
The arena itself looks really impressive and is the largest concert venue in Iceland, with an 11,000 capacity. It normally operates as a sports arena, but often doubles as a music concert venue for larger events.
It also has a great history, having hosted the memorable world chess championship in 1972 when Bobby Fischer defeated the Russia champion Boris Spassky.
It looks like being a super concert and I’m sure there will be a special effort to make it a stand out event in tribute to Sir Tom Jones!
It’s a massive achievement for Sir Tom to reach this pinnacle of time in the music business and still be so performing so many live shows. Unbelievable enthusiasm and stamina from this man, when most blokes would be looking for their pipe and slippers!
