In a recent interview by the Sunday Times Newspaper, Will.I.am confessed that he really misses having Sir Tom Jones on ‘The Voice’ judging panel and that he ‘feels lost’ now that his good friend is no longer on the programme.
As you know, T.J. was axed from the programme by the BBC and replaced by Boy George.
Will.I.am said that he misses that ‘silver beard’ and that he felt ‘safe’ when Tom was there. He said that this was because of Toms wisdom and experience and his confidence, which steadied the team and kept them concentrated on the show.
Will also said that he liked the authenticity and integrity of having a senior man on the panel and that it was good to have that level of expertise from someone who had seen and done it all.
Apparently the show has become more ‘dramatic’ since Sir Tom left, as there is no one there to keep everyone in their place!
Although Boy George and Paloma Faith have recently joined the judging panel, Will just doesn’t think that the show is quite the same.
Ricky Wilson, of the Kaiser Chief, is also coming back as a judge for the next series.
So, what do you think about the replacement of Sir Tom by the new judge(s)?
It will be very interesting to see how the changes affect the tone of the show and, most importantly, the viewing figures?
We’ve all got an opinion, but only time will tell whether the new formula for ‘The Voice’ will be successful?
